Colour Therapy • Colour is one of the first concepts we learn, and we use colour to convey emotion, messages and meaning. Colour can affect mood and behaviour in a child. While everyone may benefit from developing their choice of colour, some children may be more sensitive to colour, these might include children with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorders. Each child will have their own colour preferences, and in some cases, these choices will be very strongly felt and expressed. This can lead to distress if colour preferences are not acknowledged and respected. Colour Therapy activities can really help identify preferences and emotions, especially in children who are pre-verbal or struggle with communication.
